Highlights from Supreme Court term: Rulings on Trump, regulation, abortion, guns and homelessness
The Supreme Court ended its term by ruling for the first time that former presidents have broad immunity from prosecution, a decision that almost certainly means Donald Trump won’t stand trial before the November election. That closely watched ruling was far from the only opinion handed down in the court’s busy final few weeks, though. The court also dealt this session with cases involving gun control, regulatory powers, abortion, social media, homelessness and the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol.
