Hero on moped comes to the rescue as horses make dash through central London
ARMY horses make another dash through central London yesterday — before one was pulled up by a hero on a moped.
Three Household Cavalry steeds bolted after one was spooked by a bus.
Gym owner Tristan Smith, 31, saw them race towards him in Belgravia.
He told The Sun: “It was like my inner James Bond just came out.
“They were going through red lights at around 25mph.
“I thought, ‘I’ve got one shot here to try and save one of these horses. Let’s give it a go’.”
Tristan grabbed its reins with one hand while steering his moped with the other but admitted: “In hindsight, it was obviously a little bit stupid.”
The two other horses were stopped on Vauxhall Bridge. One suffered minor injuries.
They were seen being calmed and stroked by soldiers at 9.30am, around an hour after they first bolted.
Pimlico resident Ian Miller, who filmed the two horses passing his flat window, said: “It was like one was following the other and they were trotting down the road as usual, then I realised neither had a rider.
“One woman was nearly run over because drivers had to pull to the side of the road.”
In April, five other Household Cavalry horses bolted in the area.
