Man Utd to make first offer to sign 'tireless' £38m star in 'next few hours' - report
Manchester United have held positive talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the potential signing of midfielder Manuel Ugarte, according to Traspasos.
The Red Devils have identified the Uruguay international as their prime midfield target and the 23-year-old has already given the green light for a transfer.
It is now reported that the arrival of the midfielder to United ‘continues to gain strength’. Talks between the Red Devils and PSG have been ‘positive’ so far.
The club could make their ‘first offer’ for the holding midfielder in the ‘next few hours’.
Man Utd determined to land Ugarte from PSG
United were linked with Ugarte last summer, but they did not make an approach. He eventually chose to join PSG from Sporting after turning down Chelsea.
The Uruguayan had a good start to his career at Les Parisiens, but his playing time reduced in the back end of the campaign with the emergence of Warren Zaire-Emery.
Ugarte was an unused substitute on 14 occasions during his debut campaign. Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha and Zaire-Emery were the preferred midfield trio for manager Luis Enrique.
This could be a prime reason behind his desire to part ways. If he were to move to Old Trafford, he would be an undisputed starter ahead of Casemiro next season.
Ugarte won a stunning 3.9 tackles and 6.4 duels per game last term with 7.2 recoveries. He was likewise impressive with his distribution, completing 91 percent of his passes in Ligue 1.
His passing and ball retention ability sets him apart from Casemiro, who is no longer in his prime. The Brazilian star only completed 83 percent of his passes last term.
Ugarte, who has been described as ‘tireless‘ by PSG’s official website, is valued at £38 million by Transfermarkt. We won’t be surprised if United propose to pay a similar fee.
