Kellogg’s launches new flavour Rice Krispies Squares inspired by another breakfast favourite
CEREAL giants Kellogg’s have launched a brand-new flavour of their legendary Squares bars by combining two beloved breakfast staples.
The traditional Rice Krispies which make up the cereal bars have now been mixed together with Corn Flakes to produce a marvel for the mouth.
Dubbed “the snack of the summer” by a Kellogg’s spokesperson, the new bars are set to fly off shelves when they’re added later this week.
Kellogg’s Rice Krispies and Corn Flakes Squares fuse together the crisp and chewy marshmallows made up of Rice Krispies with the unrecognisable crunch of Corn Flakes.
Several taste testers were reportedly left in love with the bars “crunchy yet chewy texture”.
They also applauded how the combo added “an extra dimension to the crunchiness” of a Corn Flake.
Kellogg’s Rice Krispies and Corn Flakes Squares will be available from 3rd July in Morrisons as well as a select number of other stores.
The delightful twist on a classic favourite will then be available in Asda from July 14 and Tesco the following week.
Sainsbury’s will add the great addition to their shelves from August 19.
The product is being marketed as a quick treat for people on the go, as part of a lunchtime snack or even as a cheeky accompaniment to a glass of milk or warm cup of tea.
Sam Harper, Brand Activation Lead at Snacks at Kellanova, said: “Corn Flakes have always been a much loved and celebrated part of Kellogg’s history.
“To be able to combine such a classic cereal product with the UK’s leading treat segment snack brand is extremely exciting.
“We worked really closely with customers to ensure the ratio of chewy Rice Krispies Squares to crunchy Corn Flakes was spot on and we can’t wait for more people to try it.”
The available products will include a single bar, a four pack and even an eight pack.
Prices may vary but a single bar retails at just 75p with the four and eight pack being £2.25 and £3 respectively.
Kellogg’s Rice Krispies and Corn Flakes Squares are the latest snack in the ever-growing Squares market.
Along with the original flavour they also sell Rice Krispies Squares Delightfully Chocolatey, Rice Krispies Squares Caramel and Chocolate and Rice Krispies Squares Cookies and Cream.
The Sun revealed that Kellogg’s had dumped Frosties from its cereal variety packs – because they were too sugary.
Some shoppers weren’t happy, but the firm said it was “committed to helping people make healthier choices”.
Kellogg’s also launched a brand new cereal last year – the barista edition chocolate mocha flavour of its crunchy nut granola.
A team of food developers spent 18 months sampling different coffee flavours to make sure the balance and strength was “just right”.
It came hot on the heels of the launch of Crunchy Nut salted caramel.
