Columbus got some big performances from Juan Brito and Johnathan Rodriguez, but it wasn’t enough as late errors cost the team dearly.
Brito had a monster game, going 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and a stolen base.

Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk.

Other standouts included Angel Martinez, who walked twice, and Myles Straw, who went 2-for-4 with a double and a stolen base.
Starting pitcher Connor Gillispie had a quality start, allowing three runs on five hits in six innings with seven strikeouts and one walk.
Anthony Gose allowed three unearned runs after an error from Martinez.

The story of this game was all Parker Messick. The 2022 second round pick was downright dominant, tossing 4 2⁄3 no-hit innings while striking out 10 and walking three in one of the best pitching performances of his professional career.

Messick has yet to allow a run in his first two starts since being promoted to Double-A.
Bradley Hanner, Trey Benton and Lenny Torres Jr. finished off the shutout with 4 1⁄3 innings of scoreless relief.
Offensively, Kahlil Watson had a great game, going 2-for-3 with a walk. Milan Tolentino went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. C.J. Kayfus doubled, as did Yordys Valdes.
Lynchburg Hillcats 3, Carolina Mudcats 5

Lynchburg lost despite outhitting Carolina 12-7 and playing errorless baseball on Saturday. Allowing a whopping nine stolen bases likely played a role.

Jose Pastrano went 2-for-4 while Jaison Chourio went 1-for-4 with a double and a walk. Lexer Saduy went 1-for-2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly.
Starting pitcher Kyle Scott allowed four runs on six hits in 4 1⁄3 innings pitched to take the loss. Steven Perez added 2 2⁄3 innings of scoreless relief with four strikeouts.
ACL Guardians 7, ACL Guardians 9

Luis Merejo had a monster game for the ACL Guardians, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and a walk, scoring three runs.
Logun Clark went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in. Alberto Mendez and Barrett Riebock both went 1-for-3 with a walk, with Riebock also stealing a base.
Pitcher Jervis Alfaro had a monster piggy-back performance, allowing one run on five hits in six innings of long relief, striking out seven and walking none. Unfortunately, the two pitches who came after him both allowed four runs in their appearances.
DSL CLE Goryl 1, DSL Cubs Blue 5

Believe it or not, DSL Goryl was in line to win this game before giving up five runs in the top of the ninth inning to blow a 1-0 lead.
Starting pitcher Joelvis Perez was sensational, tossing six scoreless innings with five strikeouts and one walk on three hits. Oscar Melgarejo followed with two more scoreless frames before Abrahan Milan was hammered for five runs on three hits and two walks.
Offensively, Yeiferth Castillo and Dauri Fernandes both doubled and Jhorvic Abreus went 1-for-3 with a walk. Johan Rodriguez and Jonathan Taveras both walked twice, with Taveras also stealing a base.
DSL CLE Mendoza 10, DSL Padres Gold 9

Junaiker Caceres led the way, going 3-for-4 with a triple, four runs batted in and a stolen base. Gabriel Rodriguez was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a whopping three hit by pitches. He’s already been hit by nine pitches this season.
Wuinder Torres went 1-for-3 with a double, three runs batted in and two walks. Top prospect Robert Arias went 0-for-3, but reached base safely three times thanks to two walks and a hit by pitch.

Columbus had just eight hits on Sunday, but four were for extra bases and three were bombs.
Kyle Manzardo had a big day at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a home run and three walks.

Johnathan Rodriguez also homered, going 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and three runs scored.
Raynel Delgado had just one hit, but it was a big one, a three-run homer in the fourth inning. Juan Brito walked twice and Angel Martinez doubled.
The pitching was not pretty. Will Dion allowed six runs on seven hits with three walks and four strikeouts in just four innings. Hunter Stanley allowed three runs in 1 2⁄3 innings while Mason Hickman was knocked around for three more runs in his one inning of work.
Peter Strzelecki was tremendous, striking out all four of his outs in 1 1⁄3 innings while Nick Mikolajchak had a scoreless inning as well.

Many have considered Ryan Webb the top pitching prospect in a loaded Akron rotation. Webb proved himself on Sunday with his best start of the season, allowing just one run on four hits in six innings. Webb walked one and struck out a career-high 11 batters.

Offensively, Aaron Bracho had himself a day, going 3-for-5 with a run scored. Kahlil Watson only had one hit, but it was a big one as he blasted a three-run home run.
Petey Halpin doubled while Dayan Frias went 1-for-2 with two walks and Yordys Valdes went 2-for-3 with a triple and a walk.
Lake County 10, Great Lakes Loons 12

Angel Genao’s big day was spoiled as the talented infield prospect went 3-for-5 with a double and a walk.

Jorge Burgos had the lone other multi-hit game, going 2-for-5. Cooper Ingle went 1-for-4 with a walk while Guy Lipscomb went 1-for-4 with a walk and two stolen bases. Jake Fox walked twice, Maick Collado walked three times with a single and Tyresse Turner went 1-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base.
Starting pitcher Trenton Denholm had his worst performance of the season, allowing nine runs (six earned) on six hits with five walks and four strikeouts in 4 1⁄3 innings pitched.
Lynchburg Hillcats 4, Carolina Mudcats 2

Lynchburg didn’t have anyone with a multi-hit game, but the Hillcats had all teh big hits. Wuilfredo Antunez blasted a two-run home run while Rafael Ramirez Jr. hit a solo shot and also scored an additional run. Manuel Mejias went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk and Esteban Gonzalez also doubled while Jose Pastrano went 1-for-2 with two walks.
Starting pitcher Alex Clemmey allowed two runs on three hits in three innings with three strikeouts and two walks.
Jack Jasiak followed with four scoreless frames of long relief and Kendeglys Virguez earned the save with two scoreless innings to close out the victory.
High-A Lake County had its game postponed Saturday due to rain.
