Tributes have poured in after a teenager who has been named locally as Emily Stokes died after attending a drum and bass festival this weekend.

Emily’s older sister, Megan, said her sibling was the ‘kindest person you could ever meet’ and was ‘so full of life’.

Megan has set up a GoFundMe in her sister’s memory, to give her ‘the send off she would have wanted’.

She said: ‘To have her life taken away so suddenly and at only 17 years old it has completely broken me’.

Emily, 17, had been at all-day event Worried About Henry at Dreamland in Margate on Saturday when she fell ill.

Organisers of the event told Metro in a statement: ‘We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of a seventeen year old woman in hospital on Saturday, June 29.

‘Our thoughts and prayers are with the young woman’s family and friends and we will continue to work closely with Kent Police where relevant as they investigate this tragedy further.’

Kent residents have paid tribute to the girl on Facebook, with Krystle Lee Wright saying: ‘Emily has truly touched my heart and soul!

‘I wish I could have done more sweetheart!

‘Let’s give this sweet baby a decent send off’.

The GoFundMe set up by Megan has now hit over £3,000.

Kent Police have been unable to confirm the teenager’s cause of death.

In a statement released by the force, they said: ‘Kent Police was called at 5.58pm on Saturday, June 29 to be made aware of the death of a 17-year-old girl at the QEQM hospital in Margate.

‘Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and a report is being made for the coroner.’
