‘It’s like a rat hotel!’ people urge homeowner to ‘rip out’ popular garden feature as she gets ‘infested’ by rats
A WOMAN who shared her garden renovation online has people warning her to get rid of one feature that’s like a ‘rat hotel’.
Charlene Carter, from the UK, took to social media to show off her new fence which she painted to match her garden decking.
People were quick to point out the reason Charlene was getting rats in her garden thanks to a popular feature[/caption]But while she was out decorating her new home she was stunned when a neighbour pointed out the rats.
She said: When I was painting my fence panel about a month ago, one of my neighbours said ‘have you seen that rat? And I genuinely thought she was joking.
“But then she was describing the length of the tail, and I was thinking, why would she make something up like that?”
Unfortunately for Charlene, not long after she spotted not one but two rats running around her garden and even managed to capture it on her phone.
She was met with hundreds of comments from concerned viewers who claimed there was no doubt they were in house a swell, something Charlene denied.
She added: “I can assure you they are 100% not in my house.”
As she prefers a minimalist home, she said she would have spotted rat droppings if they were there.
While sorting out her garden, she revealed she had added pebbles around the fence and used PVA glue to keep them in place.
While her new garden was looking lovely with its black fences and decking, people warned Charlene against a particular garden feature.
Many viewers revealed her decking is the perfect spot for rats to hide out and breed saying she should rip it out before the situation got worse.
The clip posted to her TikTok account @charleeenecarter has since gone viral with over 2.3 million views and 34k likes.
People were quick to warn Charlene that her garden feature was going to attract even more of the pests.
One person wrote: “Rats LOVE decking! It’s like a rat hotel!”
Another commented: “We really wanted decking but the rats put me off.”
