Kith Is Christening Its New Malibu Store With the New Balance MT 580 and MS 1300 Sneakers

0

In commemoration of its Malibu, Calif. store opening, Kith has partnered with New Balance to create two sneakers with color schemes reminiscent of the beach.

The Kith x New Balance MT 580 and MS 1300 are set to release this week with complementary colorways. Both sneakers are rendered in a mix of suede, leather and canvas in an array of earthy hues. While the MS 1300 opts for a heavier dose of cream with natural leather and grey accents, the MT 580 features more complex color-blocking through the use of cream, brown, grey and white suede.

A pop of purple also comes from the latter shoe’s sockliner, and the Rollbar and Abzorb-equipped midsole is reinforced with a Vibram outsole.

Kith Malibu is the boutique’s third store opening of 2024, following a kids flagship in the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn and its first Korean outpost in Seoul. This year continues a rapid period of growth beginning 2023, when Kith made its entry into Canada with a Toronto store and its first dedicated women’s store in New York City, as well as opening doors in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood, Miami’s Design District and Los Angeles’ Rodeo Drive.

Kith was named Retailer of the Year at the 2023 FNAAs in recognition of it doubling its locations in the period of a year. At the award ceremony, Fieg said: “Every year I come here and I feel so much better about what I do. All year, we work so hard. I speak to my friend Teddy [Santis of Aimé Leon Dore] almost every day and we always say to each other, ‘Man, there’s no awards for what we do.'”

The Kith x New Balance MT 580 and MS 1300 will release this Thursday, July 4, exclusively in person at Kith Malibu, as well as the boutique’s website and app. Pricing for the sneakers has not yet been announced.
