Manhattan bat attack: Police release photos of suspects
LOWER EAST SIDE, N.Y. (PIX11) – Police released photos of the two people they suspect attacked a woman with a baseball bat in lower Manhattan on Tuesday.
Surveillance video shows the attack that happened in broad daylight Tuesday on Monroe Street near Market Street, when two strangers approached the 58-year-old woman, punched her and hit her lower body with the bat, according to police.
She was taken to an area hospital with bruises on her legs and back, police said.
“They shoved the woman down and started beating her with a bat. I heard her scream like a blood-curdling scream,” a 23-year-old witness told PIX11 News.
Police had not made any arrests Monday, but they identified the two they were looking for and released surveillance footage of the suspected attackers walking on the sidewalk.
“She is shocked, she is scared and in a lot of pain,” the woman's son told PIX11 News.
