Outdoor retailer REI Co-op sets opening in Crossgates

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Specialty outdoor retailer REI Co-op has set its opening date in Crossgates Mall. The store's grand opening celebration is set to start on August 23.

The grand opening celebration from August 23 to 25 includes a special giveaway when the store opens at 10 a.m. each day, and customers can get free coffee and an exclusive camp mug when they donate to local non-profit. In the afternoons, there will be an outdoor social from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with local non-profits, giveaways, music, and more.

Those who apply for a REI Co-op Mastercard during grand opening weekend will get a $30 REI gift card. You'll then get a $100 REI gift card after your first purchase outside of REI within 60 days of your account opening.

REI Co-op sells apparel, gear and accessories for camping, cycling, running, fitness, hiking, paddling, climbing, snow sports, and more. You can check out their products on the REI website.

In Crossgates, the 25,000-square-feet store will be on the upper level near H&M and ZARA and feature a full-service bike, ski, and snowboard shop, as well as online pick-up in-store and curbside pick-up. REI is currently hiring for the Albany store. If interested, you can apply on the REI website.

This will be REI Co-op’s sixth store in New York. Other New York locations include the newly-opened Ithaca store, Rochester, Carle Place, Huntington Station, and Manhattan.
