This Morning fans slam show after Spin To Win is ditched for new game that CHARGES them ‘£40 a month’ to play
THIS Morning viewers weren’t happy today as Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard ditched Spin To Win for a new game.
The ITV lunchtime presenters warned viewers they’d be charged £2 when they called in for a chance to play Coin Drop.
Spin To Win was free to enter and dished out cash prizes up to £3k – as well as a bag of This Morning branded goodies.
Coin Drop’s top prize is an impressive £20,000.
And anyone who gets through to Cat and Ben will walk away with at least £3000 in their pocket.
Despite the bigger prizes on offer – with today’s caller scooping £10k – viewers slammed the competition.
One feared it would cost them £40 a month if they entered every weekday, and said on X: “Can’t believe they stopped spin to win. I played that every day for 4 years and didn’t even get a call… I can’t afford £40 a month to play ‘coin drop’.
“Imagine what it would have cost me if Spin to Win charged to play after my 4 years of trying?”
Another viewer said: “Spin to Win Free…..Coin Drop £2…..change it to Drops a Flop….can’t afford that.”
A third wanted to know: “Why have we got to pay to enter this competition Coin Drop? It was free to enter Spin To Win!” as a fourth chimed: “£2 a throw? Not sure I’ll be entering.”
Spin To Win has been a This Morning stalwart segment for years.
It went missing earlier this year – after Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby quit This Morning.
The Wheel of Fortune style challenge often descended into chaos, with fans regularly branding it embarrassing.
Craig Doyle and Rochelle Humes were recently forced to abandon the segment after seemingly being pranked.
Last year This Morning fans complained to Ofcom and branded the show “tone deaf” after it offered viewers the chance to have their energy bills paid in response to the cost of living crisis.
