K-Nation (6/30/24) - K-State's top moments, Jayhawks to NBA, Shrine Bowl and more

NORTHEAST KANSAS (KSNT) - For what's typically thought of as 'slow season' during summer months, this week's K-Nation highlighted a variety of Jayhawk and Wildcat action.

Two more of Bill Self's Jayhawks got a call from NBA teams this week, with Johnny Furphy being selected No. 35th overall by the Pacers, and Kevin McCullar 56th overall by the Knicks. Pacers' general manager Chad Buchanan explains why Indiana traded up for Furphy.

K-State's Jerome Tang provides a summer check-in on his new-look Wildcat team via Zoom. He details what he's looking for in terms of consistency from his incoming players. On the women's side of things, head coach Jeff Mittie inked a five-year contract extension with the 'Cats.

Kaelen Culpepper, a current junior who shone during K-State baseball's run to the NCAA Super Regionals, earned All-American honors.

The 51st annual Kansas Shrine Bowl is in the books. A future Jayhawk and several future Wildcats made their presence known against some of the state's top talent as the East side secured a 36-25 win.

A pair of former Wildcats, Nick Stringer and Kelsey (Chipman) Stringer, were inducted into the Topeka Shawnee County Sports Hall of Fame, becoming just the second husband-wife duo to do so. Future Jayhawks and Wildcats also received raked in awards at the ceremony.

K-State volleyball welcomes it's newest transfer, Meg Brown from Pepperdine. She, and Jason Mansfield explain how a coaching connection led the veteran player to pick K-State.
