This would be a reluctant pass for me.
We can do both at the same time - a couple of players that we know can help get us out of this division whilst still building for the future, innit.
I think it's a great signing. Ideal in terms of trying to get promoted this season. But it is somewhat at odds with the notion of building a squad this season that will both get us promoted AND challenge at the top end of the Championship next season/thereafter, which is what we have been told is the intention. It doesn't feel like a "building for the future" signing.
He reminds me quite similar to Rickie Lambert when Southampton signed him - he carried on scoring through the leagues for them too.
