Rockstar Energy Open coming to Portland with chance to skateboard with the pros

PORTLAND, Ore. (PORTLAND TRIBUNE) -- The Rockstar Energy Open will bring professional skateboarders to Portland in August, but skilled amateurs can also compete for a chance to go up against the pros.

"Portland’s deep roots within the skateboarding community serve as a prime location to celebrate the newly minted Rockstar Energy Open, bringing street and park competitions, live music, art installations and more to the historic Waterfront Park in the heart of the city," event organizers said.

Skateboarders can post video submissions of their best tricks and vie for votes. Winners will be picked for overall best men's, overall best women's, best trick, viewer's choice and video of the week over the seven-week online competition period.

Video entries can be submitted and fans can vast votes on The Platfrm, theplatfrm.com.

The Rockstar Energy Open will be held Aug. 23-25, with free public admission.
