Cloudy, muggy weekend expected for Portland area

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Mostly cloudy skies won't stop temperatures from feeling warm and muggy this weekend around the greater Portland, Vancouver metro area.

Afternoon temperatures are expected to warm into the low 80s on Saturday as cloudy skies increase. One or two of the more densely packed clouds could bring a brief rain shower or two to the coastal and valley locations on Saturday and Sunday.

Weekend clouds will help increase Oregon and Washington's humidity values and decrease the threat of fires. Those who suffer from unruly hair from the muggy conditions should prepare for higher humidity valleys and warmer temperatures this weekend. Even though the sunshine will be brief, temperatures have the potential to feel slightly warmer.

Despite the increase in humidity, rain will be at a minimum through the weekend. Rain accumulation will only amount to a few drops to a couple of one-hundredths of an inch of rain through Sunday night.

Rain accumulation will remain low through the weekend despite mostly cloudy skies

Pacific Northwest skies are expected to clear as sunshine pushes temperatures into the low to mid-80s next week. By the end of next week, summer heat is expected for much of the Pacific Northwest.

Some of the warmest temperatures of the year are expected by the end of next week and into next weekend. Some forecast models are pushing Portland temperatures to the upper 90s if not close to 100 degrees by Saturday. This next potential round of summer heat would come during the Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland.
