A STUNNING Ford Capri whose dealer dubbed it the “finest motor I’ve ever sold” could be yours for an eye-watering price

The 1974 model is finished in a rare colour and has been left almost untouched for half a century.

With only 11,300 miles on the clock, it averages just 226 each year since it rolled off the production line at the manufacturer’s legendary Halewood factory in Merseyside.

The Capri is one of Ford’s best-selling models ever, with over 1.9 million distributed in a near 20-year production run from 1968 to 1986.

However, this particular version is a rare breed as it bears the revered RS3100 badge.

Ford built just 250 of the variant – the minimum number required for one to qualify for touring car and GT championships in 1974.

Of those, 50 were exported to Australia, leaving just a handful available in the UK.

It’s a superb car to drive and enjoy

And the one on sale is even more special in that, according to the listing on Car & Classic, it runs well and is completely usable.

Photos of the car accompanying the ad show it to be in immaculate condition.

The iconic Essex V6 sits proudly in the engine bay looking as if it has just left the factory, while the bodywork looks like it doesn’t have a scratch on it.

The interior is trimmed in black leather and dominated by a large dashboard loaded with analogue dials, as well as a radio and casette deck.

The ad states: “This is a car that I had the privilege of owning a few years ago, and reluctantly sold to an old friend, who was building a significant classic collection.

“As often happens with collections, he’s decided to concentrate on other marques, so this special Capri has now come onto the open market for the first time in 40-odd years.

“A fantastic car and very rare in Olympic Blue…This is by far the finest Capri I’ve ever had the privilege to sell.

“It’s a superb car to drive and enjoy.”

However, thanks to its pristine condition and stunningly low mileage, it does come at quite a price.

It is currently listed for an asking price of £49,950.

Prospective buyers can register their interest by calling the number listed on the ad or sending an email to the address provided.

It comes after a major British car brand announced it would be reviving an iconic model as an EV after eight years off the market.

Meanwhile, the Ford Capri is set to make a return itself, with new teaser images released last week ahead of an unveiling on July 10.
