Glastonbury 2024 (times below, BBC1, BBC2 & BBC4)

Chris Martin and Coldplay get ready to wow on the Pyramid Stage for a record fifth time

As the second day of the festival‘s music gets underway (and the fear of missing out really sets in), there’s lots to enjoy from the comfort
of your sofas.

From 5pm on BBC2, it’s time to tune in to performances from the likes of Cyndi Lauper, Michael Kiwanuka and Camila Cabello.

While over on BBC4, Corinne Bailey Rae, Keane, Jessie Ware and Disclosure’s sets can be watched in succession from 7pm.

But the real golden ticket comes at 10pm on BBC1 when Coldplay take to Glastonbury’s iconic Pyramid Stage and make history, becoming the first act to headline the festival on five separate occasions.

King Charles attended the solemn vigil as Queen Elizabeth II lay in state at Westminster Hall, according to her wishes

It might sound like sombre viewing, but there’s much to be learnt from this royal documentary.

While many leave their loved ones to organise the details of their final farewell, it’s royal protocol to plan your own funeral – and that’s just the beginning of a long line of traditions.

This hour-long programme lifts the lid on many of them, including who keeps guard over the bodies and how it’s decided where they are buried.

Boxing: Estrada v Rodriguez (streaming on DAZN)

Juan Francisco Estrada will put his belts on the line as he goes up against Jesse Rodriguez tonight

The Footprint Center in Arizona is the venue as Juan Francisco Estrada defends his WBC and The Ring super flyweight titles against Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez.

At 33, Estrada is nine years Rodriguez’s senior, but an 18-month break from the sport, combined with all that experience, means he’ll be hungry to prove he’s still a force to be reckoned with.

It won’t be easy – Rodriguez remains unbeaten and is considered by many the best flyweight in the sport right now.

Offering early-morning laughs, Chris’ new comedy show will also air on ITVX in case you miss your alarm call

He’s no stranger to being centre stage – but now the comic’s taking over our weekends too.

For 11 weeks, Chris is fronting this brand-new chat show, where he’ll be joined by celebrity guests, including episode one’s Paul Whitehouse and Donna Preston.

But the blind star has promised it won’t be a run-of-the-mill format, as he’s inviting the VIPs to be part of his audio-only world through a series of laugh-out-loud interactive games.

“I am really excited about this,” says Chris, “although I can’t do autocue and I don’t know where the cameras are. What can possibly go wrong?”

Slovenian champion cyclist Tadej Pogačar, 25, is hoping for further success

Anyone who drives Britain’s country roads at the weekend will know how popular cycling is right now.

Expect the roads to be quieter today because the Tour de France, the world’s most famous – and toughest – race, begins in Florence, with Italy hosting the Grand Départ for the first time.

Can Tadej Pogačar – who’s looking to do the double after winning the Giro D’Italia – get off to a strong start?

The two-wheeled action continues every day this week.
