Kinder man killed Thursday in Allen Parish bicycle crash
KINDER, La. (KLFY) -- A Kinder man was killed Thursday in a bicycle crash in Allen Parish, authorities said.
The crash claimed the life of Reginald Hebert, 50, of Kinder.
Shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday, Louisiana State Police Troop D began investigating a two-vehicle serious injury crash involving a bicycle on US 165 near Botley Cemetery Road in Allen Parish.
Investigators said Hebert was riding a motorized bicycle westbound on Botley Cemetery Road. At the same time, a 2021 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound in the right lane on US 165. For reasons still under investigation, Hebert failed to stop at the stop sign for the intersection of US 165 and entered the northbound lanes of travel. The driver of the Toyota took evasive action to avoid a collision, but Hebert’s bicycle struck the front right side of the Toyota, officials said.
Hebert was ejected from the bicycle and received serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. The driver of the Toyota was unhurt.
Standard toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Troop D has investigated 7 fatal crashes resulting in 7 fatalities in 2024.
