Big alligator knocks on front door of Louisiana home, sits on porch, swims away

MAUREPAS, La. (BRPROUD) — "Something is knocking on my door." The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office took a complaint call from home in Maurepas overnight.
When deputies arrived, they found out why the call said something, not someone.
At the scene, LPSO found a 10-foot alligator sitting outside the home. They said the reptile just "wanted to hang on this beautiful front porch for the evening."
At some point, deputies said, the animal decided it was time to move on, "made its way to the back yard, pushed open the gate, dove off of the bulkhead and splashed into the river."
This is not the first time that the sheriff's office has dealt with an animal.
In 2023, a snake was found and relocated from a home in Denham Springs.
