MANHATTAN (KSNT) - K-State head women's basketball coach Jeff Mittie is reaping the reward of one of the most memorable seasons in program history.

The Wildcats won 26 games and earned a spot as a host for the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament. Now, their head coach has a new contract.

Mittie and K-State Athletics have agreed to a new five year deal which keeps him in Manhattan through the 2028-29 season. K-State athletic director Gene Taylor announced the news on Friday.

Mittie's previous contract was set to expire after the 2025-26 season.

The change in end date is far from the only important note on Mittie's new contract. He could likely earn multiple more contract extensions through incentives built into his current deal. Mittie will automatically get one season added to his contract any time his team makes the NCAA tournament, up to three times.

His base salary for the deal is as follows:

  • 2026-27: $825,000
  • 2027-28: $875,000
  • 2028-29: $925,000
  • Any year extended with tournament berth (Up to three): $925,000

  • Top three seed in conference postseason tournament: $20,000
  • Reach Sweet 16 in NCAA tournament or win conference championship (regular season or tournament): $22,500
