A VERY rare retro Ford Fiesta that’s loved by Wheeler Dealers’ host Mike Brewer can be bought right now for a bargain price.
The famous model, which was finally discontinued by the Blue Oval last year after a near-50 year production run, has been Britain’s favourite car for much of the 21st Century.
Currently up for sale on eBay, a Mk1 Fiesta from 1982 – the version that kicked off the hatchback’s record-breaking, five-decade production run – can be bought for just £6,995.
Described as “great fun to drive”, the listing added that it’s a “sporty fun Ford, not your grandmother’s Fiesta!”
It also hints at the Mk1’s rarity, claiming it’s even rarer “than an XR2 or Supersport” model.
The owner revealed that he’s only selling this example as he no long has storage space available.
What happened to Mike Brewer's Ford Fiesta?
Mike Brewer revealed that his Ford Fiesta Mk1 was stolen in June 2023.
- The Wheeler Dealers Ford Fiesta was being stored in a trailer used to transport the classic car.
- It was parked in the same car park of the hotel where the TV star was staying the night.
- Hours of work had been spent by engineers to fully restore the iconic Mk1.
- The project was to commemorate the end of the Ford hatchback era and to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Wheeler Dealers show.
- The motor was stolen just hours before it was meant to be shown off at a special car show.
- Both presenters from the show quickly appealed to members of the public and the classic car community to share any information on the whereabouts of the stolen motor.
- In an interview with the Express, the Wheeler Dealers host offered £5,000 to anyone who could tell him where the Ford Fiesta Mk1 was.
- Mike previously described the theft as “like losing a child”.
- There have been no further leads since the TV stars’ appeal.
Fiestas, once a staple of British roads, are hot property and loved by enthusiasts, including Wheeler Dealers’ star Mike – whos own Fiesta was cruelly stolen from him last year in a much-publicised case.
For a special episode of the show, Mike and his co-host Marc Priestley spent over £11,000 restoring a classic Mk1 Fiesta from 1979 before it was pinched from outside a hotel they were staying at.
The motor was a project taken on by the pair to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Wheeler Dealers and mark a fond farewell to the model after Ford decided to take it off the market.
Indeed, Mike had previously dubbed it one of the crew’s “proudest every achievement”, especially as there are only four of its kind left in the UK.
The car was actually due to be revealed on the show during filming the next day, and was sitting ready in the car park of the team hotel when it was snatched.
Crooks apparently only took 25 minutes to drive the car away, despite it being chained up inside a lorry and being equipped with a wheel lock.
Mike explained: “They parked a big lorry in front of the security cameras of the hotel and they spent the next 25 minutes behind the lorry with cutters, angle grinders and all kinds of things to steal it.”
The duo have appealed to fans online to keep an eye out for the Fiesta and report any sightings to police.
Mike even offered a £5,000 reward to anyone who could help them track it down.
The motoring star has since revealed to fans that he has little hope it will ever be found again.
Ford sold 4.8 million units in a nearly 50-year production run, which saw the model claim the title of the most popular in the UK for 12 consecutive years between 2009 and 2020.
This comes as a “remarkable” Fiesta that’s more than 30 years old and has driven just 139 miles went up for sale recently.
