Merit Beauty’s Ginger Lipstick is the everyday lipstick of my dreams – this is why you need it this summer

YESTERDAY, a colleague asked me for a lipstick recommendation for her wedding day, and I instantly thrust Merit into her hands.

My adoration for these cult, minimalist lipsticks is no secret, and I’ve recommended them to countless friends, thanks to their hydrating, radiant formulas.

Whilst Merit Signature Satin Lipsticks aren’t the most pigmented products on the block, they deliver an enviable silk-like shimmer to the lips.

Their glossy, buttery-soft formulas can be slicked onto lips for a hydrating burst of colour, creating similar results to a tinted lip balm.

My lips are prone to regular chapping and dryness meaning that so many other lipstick formulas dry down into creases, drawing attention to them.

However, Merit Signature Satin Lip glides over textured skin and imperfections, hydrating as it goes, thanks to squalane and sunflower seed oil.

Their buildable, satin formula is completely faff-free and suitable for the heavy-handed – so much so, that I’ve never used a lip liner with any of the shades.

Earlier, this year, Merit launched a Matte version of its cult Signature Lip, which was met with applause.

While I was a huge fan (and loved every shade), I’ve been waiting for a new shade of the classic Satin Signature Lip with bated breath.

Fortunately, I didn’t have to wait long as Merit launched Ginger in May, a brand new shade addition.

I was initially worried that Ginger was going to be overly orange or coral, which are two shades that I never incorporate into my make-up routine.

However, Ginger is a gorgeous, auburn shade with pink and chocolate undertones, which feels reminiscent of crunchy autumn leaves.

On my complexion, Ginger is a very true nude, which was totally unexpected.

Its buildable, silky texture can easily be dialled up, meaning its intensity can sit between a striking copper and a warm pink.

Thanks to its warm undertones, Ginger would pair perfectly with a copper bronzer swept over the cheekbones and tapped into the eyelids.

Whilst it’s not my favourite shade of Mertis’ Signature Satin Lips (warm, rose-pink Millennial will always hold the crown), I will squirrel it away in my make-up bag for cosy, autumn days.
