Fire crews knock down house fire in NE Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - The Oklahoma City Fire Department responded to a house fire Friday morning.

According to OKCFD, crews responded to a home near NE 16th Terrace and Martin Luther King Blvd. around 4 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters noticed the flames had spread to another house nearby. Neighbors say both homes had been empty for a while.

"It could be from someone, like a person facing homelessness," said Battalion Chief Lance Burnett with OKCFD. "There was a lot of furniture and living items at the rear and inside of one of the structures".

Officials say wind made it more difficult for crews to extinguish this fire.

"There wasn't a good point of attack to stay out of the smoke so everyone did where their mask for the duration of the operation. That made it really that much more difficult just because of the energy expenditure they have to have when wearing their mask." Burnett added.

No injuries have been reported. It is unknown what caused this fire.
