BBC News star stuns fans as they QUIT after two decades on screen – saying ‘it’s time for change’
A POPULAR BBC News star has quit her on-screen role after two decades with the channel in a shock move.
The star insisted it was “time for change” as she walked away from her long-running role.
Tulip Mazumdar has been employed by the BBC as their Global Health Correspondent but she has now decided to quit the role for good.
She confirmed her decision on Twitter in a post where she confessed what she was looking forward to doing after she had finished at the Beeb.
Alongside a photo of her two children at a farm, Tulip confessed: “I will be leaving @BBCNews at the end of this week.
“I’ve had the most incredible two decades, but it’s time for a change, and to hang more with these two rascals….
“Thanks so much to everyone who trusted me to help share their, often very personal, stories.
“Together, I do think we’ve made a difference.”
Tulip’s colleagues past and present were quick to express their gratitude at her hard work in a series of loving messages.
The BBC’s Deputy Africa Editor, Anne Soy, said: “Oh, Tulip! How wonderful to have met and worked with you. Wishing you the very best in your next chapter.”
Whilst fellow BBC host Alan Kasujja added: “Best wishes Tulip. It was a pleasure working with you.”
Her exit follows a slew of BBC presenters quitting their roles within recent weeks.
Yesterday, The Sun told how 76-year-old Sean Rafferty had quit his long-running BBC Radio 3 programme In Tune.
Sean revealed his impending departure in a statement where he said his hosting role had been a “privilege”.
The star said: “I shall miss the truly remarkable and life-enhancing musicians, many coming to the studio ever since they began their careers – a joy.”
Also, BBC newscaster Aaron Heslehurst walked away from the channel after more than 22 years.
Originally hailing from Australia, Aaron has been a BBC business news presenter since 2002 and presented across all of their television channels.
He took to X – formerly Twitter – to share news of his farewell, penning: “I guess it’s time to share something with you.
“This week will be my very last show at the BBC.”
