Arnaudville man convicted on 7 counts of underage sex crimes
OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- An Arnaudville man accused of sexual misconduct with a minor has been convicted of all seven counts he faced Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Jack Joseph Ray, Sr., 73, of Arnaudville, was found guilty by a jury in the 27th Judicial District Court of two counts of indecent behavior with juveniles, two counts of molestation of juveniles, two counts of sexual battery of a juvenile and one count of aggravated crimes against nature.
The jury deliberated for less than three hours before reaching the verdict, officials said.
St. Landry Parish District Attorney Chad Pitre said the conviction was a team effort.
"These cases are often the hardest to prove, but with the collaborative effort of Assistant District Attorney Katie Ryan, Arnaudville Police Department, Hearts of Hope, and the Department of Family Services, we were able to bring this matter to justice,” Pitre said.
Ray was arrested twice in 2022 for several crimes involving sexual misconduct with children, the second time after being released on bond after the first.
He is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 1.
