Clifton Park accepts nonprofit funding applications

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Clifton Park has opened the application process for local nonprofits seeking support from the Community Action Fund. If they apply before the deadline on Monday, Sept. 30, nonprofits can receive up to $1,000 from the fund.

Nonprofits can apply for funding through the town website. The fund was established on Feb. 4, 2019, to support nonprofit programs and projects for Clifton Park community members. It is an alternative to putting redeemable bottles and cans intpo recycling bins. Money from can and bottle deposits continues to build social infrastructure in the town through the fund.

The Community Action Fund, which doesn't use town money, is fully funded by can and bottle donations. Since the fund's inception, roughly $63,000 has been awarded to local organizations that serve Clifton Park residents.

Town Supervisor Phil Barrett said the success of the Community Action Fund exceeded his expectations of providing assistance to the organizations and community. "Thank you to everyone who has donated bottles and cans to the program resulting in over $63,000 being invested in our community," Barrett said.
