KU's Kevin McCullar selected in NBA Draft
LAWRENCE (KSNT) - Former Kansas men's basketball guard Kevin McCullar is continuing his career at the next level.
After five years of college hoops, McCullar was selected by the New York Knicks with the No. 56th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The pick was acquired via a trade with the Phoenix Suns.
McCullar is the second Jayhawk to be selected in this year's draft class, following former teammate Johnny Furphy, who was taken at No. 35. He's the 89th all-time Jayhawk to be drafted to the league.
The 6-foot-7, 212-pound San Antonio, Texas native spent the final two years of his college career at KU after spending the first three at Texas Tech. In his five-year career, McCullar was responsible for 1,517 points, 598 rebounds and 338 assists. He started in 108 of his 138 total games played.
His battled injury in his final season with the Jayhawks, but his 18.3 points per game still led the team.
