A second man has been charged in a fatal shooting of a 19-year-old in Waterbury in May, police said.

Detectives recently obtained an arrest warrant for Demetrius White, 22, of Waterbury, according to a statement issued by Lt. Ryan Bessette of the Waterbury Police Department.

White was taken into custody in Meriden on Wednesday by Waterbury detectives with the assistance of the Meriden Police Department and Connecticut State Police, Bessette said.

White was charged with murder, conspiracy at murder, criminal possession of a firearm and weapons in a motor vehicle, according to Bessette.

On May 24, Yeanier Osorio-Medina, 18, of Waterbury was also arrested on charges of murder, conspiracy at murder, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal use of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and unlawful discharge of a firearm, Bessette said.

The two men have been arrested in connection to the shooting of 19-year-old Lashawn Nance of Waterbury on May 6, according to Bessette. Nance was found suffering from gunshot injuries when police responded to Wood Street on a report of a shooting shortly before 10 a.m.

Nance was taken to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Police at the time said the incident was isolated.

White was being held on a $3 million bond pending court arraignment on Thursday. Osorio-Medina was also previously issued a $3 million bond, according to Bessette.

There are no additional arrests expected at this time, Bessette said.
