David Foster Says 3-Year-Old Son Rennie Is Taking a Break from Drumming, Explains Why He Won't Push Him to Continue

David Foster is not going to pressure his son to be a musician.

The 74-year-old music producer and his wife Katharine McPhee are parents to musical prodigy Rennie, 3, and they’ve showed his musical talents to the world over the last year.

Rennie has gone viral in several drumming videos and he’s even gone on stage at David and Katharine’s concerts a couple times!

Well, Rennie is now taking a break from drumming.

“He’s taking a little hiatus,” David told People amid his tour in Asia. “He hasn’t really been drumming for the past month or two.”

“He’s just taking a hiatus,” David added. “As a parent, you can’t push them. It’s like, you want to play the drums, and now what’s next? So he’s gone off of it a little bit. But he still loves to watch our drummer play and come to rehearsals, and loves being on the road with us.”

David has a very exciting show coming up later this year!
