Birds Nest House

0

Birds Nest House is a minimalist home located in Tbilisi, Georgia, designed by TIMM Architecture. The interior is defined by a clean white palette that directs attention to a wood-clad dining area, serving as a visual highlight. Situated in the Mtatsminda district of Tbilisi, near the funicular’s lower station, this attic occupies the space above a 19th-century historical building. The owner, a descendant of one of the original residents, showed particular care for the construction details, preserving the building’s story and its evolution.

The design, inspired by the picturesque views reminiscent of Georgian painter Elene Akhvlediani’s work, is organized into three zones: the entry, the living room, and the dining room. A key challenge was integrating the staircase to the living area, which was addressed with a suspended perforated steel wall, maintaining openness and inviting guests to ascend. The living room is designed as a secondary space for casual use, emphasizing the dining area. The dining area, the apartment’s core, showcases exceptional wood craftsmanship in the finishes and custom-designed furniture, including a bespoke table by TIMM. A window frames the panoramic view, treated to resemble a painting.
