BARGAIN obsessed shoppers are going wild for a giant paddling pool at Costco for a fraction of the price.

The massive inflatable pool, which spans 10ft x 30in, usually retails for £69.99 but it is now marked down by over 40%.

Eagle-eyed shoppers were made aware of the deal by scouring the Hotdeals.com website, which advertises items on sale in the UK.

The Index blue pool is on sale for £39.99, the perfect deal as temperatures finally begin heat up in the UK.

Savvy shoppers have praised the deal with one saying the purchase was “worth every penny”.

Another review said it was a “great value pool.”

The post read: “Great value, really big paddling pool . Just right for the summer heat wave.”

One punter was so wowed they bought two.

“Great pool for [the] money [I] bought two,” the impressed shopper wrote.

But if you are keen to snap one up you will have to act fast.

Shoppers have until next Sunday July 7 to get the pool half price on the Costco website.

However, it is important to note that you need to be a Costco member to avail this offer.

How do I become a Costco member?

To be eligible for a Costco membership, you need to have – or be retired from – a certain type of job.

Jobs that are included in the criteria are public sector workers such as NHS staff, police officers, teachers and local government workers.

Membership starts from £15 a year for online shopping only, but if you would rather shop at one of the warehouses then that rises to £33.60.

If you have a business there are also trade memberships available from £24.40 a year.

How to compare prices to get the best deal

JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn't mean it's always a good deal.

There are plenty of comparison websites out there that’ll check prices for you – so don’t be left paying more than you have to.

Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers.

Here are some that we recommend:

  • Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.
  • Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock.
  • Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one.
  • CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.

There are many perks to being a member as well as low prices, such as discounted fuel and tyre installation mortgage services and pet insurance.

Prior to this year, members used to have to carry a physical card with them when shopping at one of the warehouses, but now it is more convenient.

The retailer has launched its first digital membership card meaning that shoppers can just scan their phones in stores.

Is there a Costco near me?

Costco originated in America but now has 29 stores across the UK.

You can find your nearest Costco by using this map here.

The first Costco in Britain opened in 1993 in Essex.

But there are now a range of sites ranging from Scotland to Southampton.

Spending less this summer

The store releases a fresh range of deals every Thursday and Sunday, so be sure to check regularly to see what’s new.

Meanwhile, fellow German discounter Lidl also has its middle aisle deals, which sell discounted non-food items.

The products are updated each week.
