NYC public pools officially open for summer season
NEW YORK (PIX11) – New Yorkers looking to cool off will have a host of new options Thursday morning as public pools across all five boroughs have reopened.
The city made renovations to more than three dozen pools that cost over $1 billion, which include new pool liners, filtration systems and pool decking.
The pools reopening comes as New York City and the rest of the U.S. are dealing with a lifeguard shortage. The city increased pay for lifeguards to $22 an hour as a result.
All swimming pools are open through Labor Day.
