Prince Harry reveals pain of losing mum Diana in new video

Harry was 12 when his mum was killed in a car crash on August 31, 1997, while travelling in Paris.

Prince Harry has shared the pain he experienced in losing his mum, Princess Diana, when he was a child.

In a new interview with Nikki Scott of Scotty’s Little Soldiers – a charity supporting children whose parents have died while serving in the armed forces – the Duke of Sussex was candid about his grieving experience.

Harry was 12 when his mum was killed in a car crash on August 31, 1997, while travelling in Paris.

‘You convince yourself that the person you’ve lost wants you to – or that you need to be sad as long as possible to prove to them that they’re missed. Then there’s this realisation of “they must want me to be happy”,’ Harry said.

‘If I do talk about it, and I’m celebrating their life, then actually things become easier, as opposed to not talking about it.’
