Neil Young cancels the rest of Crazy Horse tour in ‘big unplanned break’ after illness ‘hit a couple’ band members
NEIL Young has announced that he’s canceling the remaining dates on his Crazy Horse Tour due to illness.
The Harvest Moon singer was slated to perform at the Hollywood Bowl and Ohana Fest.
Neil, 78, shared the shocking news on Wednesday, citing illness.
In a statement, he revealed that a sickness has been hitting “a couple of us” in the band since their last performance in May.
“The Love Earth Tour has been a great experience for us so far,” his statement, posted to his website, began.
“GREAT AUDIENCES AND MUSIC. WE HAVE HAD A BLAST!”
Neil went on, “When a couple of us got sick after Detroit’s Pine Knob, we had to stop. We are still not fully recovered, so sadly our great tour will have a big unplanned break.
“We will try to play some of the dates we miss as time passes when we are ready to rock again! We know many of you made travel plans and we apologize for the inconvenience.”
“Thanks for your understanding and patience,” he wrote.
“Health is # 1…. We want to stay and do more shows and more albums for you… and for us…. With love and thanks to all of you from Crazy Horse…. Neil, Micah, Ralph, and Billy… Love Earth.”
He did not say whether he, himself, was ill.
The cancelations include shows as far as three months out.
Among the performances that have been nixed are seven shows in Canada slated for July and three United States shows scheduled for late September.
This includes the Hollywood Bowl performance and a set at Ohana Fest.
Neil and his band will not take the stage at Kentucky’s Bourbon & Beyond Festival either.
According to his statement, members of the band began getting sick at some point after their May 22 show at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan.
It is not clear how long Neil and his band will be stepping away from performing.
Neil did not mention whether tickets will remain valid for some dates if and when they are rescheduled.
A rep for the musician said that they are awaiting more information for ticketholders, according to Variety.
A rep for Ohana Fest released a statement on social media stating, “We are sad to announce that Neil Young and Crazy Horse will no longer be performing at Ohana Festival 2024. Please stay tuned for a lineup update coming as soon as possible; in the meantime, we are wishing the band a speedy recovery.”
