To mitigate the financial stress associated with chronic diseases and other illnesses, the Medical Director/CEO, Badagry General Hospital, Dr. Olatunde Bakare has called on residents of Badagry and its environs to enrol for Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme (LHIS), popular known as Ilera Eko, to strengthen their opportunity to enjoy affordable but quality healthcare anytime they need to access care in the hospital.

Bakare made the call on Tuesday when he received members of the Committee of Friends, Badagry, who were at the hospital to donate Bed Sheets and Pillows as a way of increasing the hospital’s service delivery to the patients.

He also used the occasion to solicit the support and cooperation of wealthy indigenes of Badagry to support the facility to attain greater heights, especially now that it has been given approval to operate as a tertiary facility and being one of the few, oldest hospitals in the country.

His words, “I want to thank you for extending your generosity to the hospital. Please, help us to also talk to the people in this area to register for Ilera-Eko before the need to access care in the hospital arises without having to beg for money. The scheme had both individual and family packages”.

The Chairman of the Committee of Friends Badagry, who is also the Chairman of Soketta Hotel Badagry, Elder Whedeyon Hundeyin commended the Medical Director/CEO, Dr. Olatunde Bakare for the transformation that the hospital had witnessed under his leadership.

“We know there has been tremendous progress in the hospital since you assumed office as Medical Director. Our presence here today is that we are an NGO and our objective is to make this donation so that it will increase your service delivery”, Hundeyin said.

He added that the group aims to give back to the community by reaching out to the weak, vulnerable and unhealthy residents, calling on others, especially business owners to also support the hospital in order to add more value to their brands in the area.

Other members of the Committee of Friends Badagry present at the event include the Treasurer, Rotarian Femi Oshibelu and the Social Secretary, Elder Shoremekun Adebola.
