Teen killed, child injured in hit-and-run near Queens school: police
QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A 16-year-old girl was killed, and an 8-year-old girl was injured in a hit-and-run Wednesday near a school in Sunnyside, Queens, police said.
The two girls were struck by a vehicle at 46-02 47th Ave. around 3:27 p.m., according to the NYPD.
The 16-year-old girl died at the scene, police said. The 8-year-old girl is hospitalized for injuries to her head and leg; she is in critical condition, sources said.
The vehicle involved fled the area after the incident. The suspect vehicle, a white Ford truck, was later found abandoned on 46th Street and 48th Avenue, police said.
The hit-and-run happened outside I.S. 125 Thom J. McCann. Wednesday was the last day of school for New York City Public Schools.
