Troy man accused of raping a minor in Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -A Troy resident is accused of raping a minor. Court documents say Sakir Akkan threatened the 15-year-old girl with a metal bar while she was inside his car.
The alleged attack happened in the early-morning hours of May 14 around Old South Pearl Street and South Pearl Street. The victim, who is known to Albany Police, was said to have been sitting in Akkan's vehicle when he threatened to strike her with a metal bar if she did not move to the back seat. While in the back seat, the defendant is accused of taking her clothes off and forcing the teenager to have sex with him. The 15-year-old is said to have attempted to push Akkan off herself and told him to stop, but was threatened again with the metal bar and the attack continued.
Akkan is listed as both 20 and 21 years old on the court accusatory document. He is being held in Albany County Jail and will appear in Albany City Court on Thursday afternoon.
