FOX45 News: BARCS waives adoption fees due to 50-kennel deficit

The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) is making immediate changes, like waiving adoption fees, due to overcrowding.

While the organization was dealing with an 11-kennel deficit Tuesday morning, 43 more animals came in Tuesday afternoon. This included over 30 large dogs seized by Animal Control from unsafe conditions.

BARCS’ immediate call to action starting Wednesday includes waiving fees through Sunday.

Adoption fees are waived for all animals in the shelter located at 2490 Giles Road, through Sunday. Large adult dog emergency fosters are also needed.

BARCS said if you find a lost pet, hold onto it — don’t bring it to the shelter — and help look for the owners. A majority of lost pets are found within a few blocks of their homes.
