Game Eighty-Two: Miami Marlins at Kansas City Royals
The second half begins.
The Florida fish take on the Missouri monarchs this afternoon at Kauffman Stadium in the rubber match of this three-game set. After a solid 4-1 victory on Monday, Kansas City blew a late lead last night to put the series on the line today.
Brady Singer will start for the Royals. Singer has had a rough go of it lately, posting a 5.31 ERA with five home runs allowing in four starts in June. Despite this stretch, he still has a 3.29 ERA and 4.12 FIP this season. Singer has never pitched against the Marlins.
Miami will counter with Valente Bellozo, who will make his big league debut. Bellozo, a 5’10” righty, was acquired in a trade with Houston this past offseason and has split 2024 between Double and Triple-A, posting mixed results along the way. Per Eric Longehagen of FanGraphs:
He works off a good changeup, but his other offerings are below average.
