Emma Roberts Isn’t Into Nepo-Baby Discourse, Unsurprisingly
Frightening doll collector Emma Roberts, who starred in the film Aquamarine at age 15, isn’t into nepo-baby discourse. Surprise! “I think there’s something to be said where everybody loves the kind of overnight success story,” Roberts told the Table for Two With Bruce Bozzi podcast. “And so if you’re kind of not the girl from the middle of nowhere that broke into Hollywood, there’s kind of an eye roll of like, ‘Well, your dad was this.’” Well, her father is Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts, and her aunt is Julia Roberts. “People kind of only see your wins because they only see when you’re on the poster of a movie,” Roberts said later in the pod. “They don’t see all the rejection along the way.” Roberts says that is why she’s open about rejection she has personally faced, not intentionally referencing the time she was turned away from a cronut place but nonetheless reminding us of a time when cronuts were just $5. Too bad her dad isn’t a baker.
