Three new principals selected for USD 475 schools

JUNCTION CITY (KSNT) - A school district which serves Geary County is bringing in a few new faces for the upcoming academic year.

Geary County Schools USD 475 announced in a press release it has hired three educators to serve in principal positions. These include:

  • Bryan Scruggs - Early Childhood Center.
  • Marlies Gipson - Junction City Middle School.
  • Kenny Upham - Business, Public Service and Hospitality (BPSH) Academy at Junction City High School.

Scruggs currently serves as an instructional coach and academic specialist at Seitz Elementary. He has spent his time with the district as a kindergarten steering chair and kindergarten task force member. He also taught kindergarten at Ware Elementary from 2005 to 2021.

Gipson is replacing Junction City Middle School's principal Heather Oentrich. She currently serves as assistant principal for the Wildcats and has been with the school since 2021. Her experience in the district involves time served with numerous committees, Washington Elementary and Seitz Elementary.

Upham has previously served as principal at Fort Riley Elementary and Morris Hill Elementary. He is replacing James Neff at the school.

USD 475 also said Brianna Little will be hired as head girl's basketball coach at Junction City High School. Chris Bogenhagen is also being named as the athletic directors for the high school.
