The hot weather mistake that will leave you with saggy boobs – and how to stop the sweat without any droop

TEMPERATURES in the UK are officially on the rise.

Brits are set to bask in temperatures over 30C this summer – but with the heat comes a host of inconveniences.

From sleepless nights and increased energy bills when we keep the fan on all day to greasier hair and underboob sweat.

When the weather gets warmer, many of us adapt our clothing for comfort.

And nearly half of all British women opt to forgo their bras when the temperatures rise, according to research by Next

But ditching your brassiere can have long term implications that aren’t worth a few days of cooling comfort.

Georgina Bibby, Lingerie & Swimwear Technologist at Next, advises women against freeing the nipple.

It can cause your boobs to sag and even change shape, she warns.

“We strongly advise against forgoing a bra in hot weather due to the lack of support,” Georgina tells Fabulous

“The primary function of a bra is to offer support to the weight and structure of the bust.

“Breasts consist of fat rather than muscle so inadequate support can lead to changes in both shape and form.”

The study also found that the most adopted bra-ditching temperature is an average of 25C.

And while Georgina discourages abandoning bras, she assured that you don’t have to suffer in the heat.

“While we acknowledge the temptation to go without a bra in hot weather, there are measures you can take to enhance comfort,” she says.

“First and foremost, it’s crucial to wear the correct bra size to ensure optimum support and comfort.

“And to combat discomfort in hot weather, it is equally vital to choose breathable materials.

Common Causes of Saggy Boobs

Gravity: Over time, the constant pull of gravity can cause the ligaments in the boobs to stretch and sag, especially in larger ones

Smoking: Smoking reduces blood supply to the skin, leading to a loss of elasticity and premature sagging

Lack of Support: Not wearing a properly fitting bra, especially during exercise, can lead to stretching of breast tissue and ligaments

Weight gain and loss: Changes in body weight can spark changes to the fatty tissue in the breasts, making them more prone to sagging

“Opting for a cotton bra is highly recommended as it offers naturally cooling properties, enabling air to flow through the fabric and preventing the accumulation of sweat.”

Georgina also addressed the common discomfort of underboob sweat, acknowledging it as a natural occurrence that can be uncomfortable.

“Experiencing underboob sweat while wearing a bra in hotter temperatures is a common and entirely normal occurrence, albeit uncomfortable,” she adds.

“To mitigate this, we suggest wearing a bra crafted with moisture-management finished fabric.

“This feature effectively wicks moisture away from the skin, facilitating evaporation and providing enhanced comfort.”
