Lily Gladstone, Catherine O'Hara & Jessica Alba Among Over 400 Artists & Executives Invited to Join The Academy

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has extended invitations to hundreds of actors, musicians, directors and more to join the organization!

Lily Gladstone, Catherine O’Hara and Jessica Alba are three of the actors who “have distinguished themselves by their contributions to motion pictures” and were invited to join.

“We are thrilled to welcome this year’s class of new members to the Academy,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang said in a statement. “These remarkably talented artists and professionals from around the world have made a significant impact on our filmmaking community.”

Members of the Academy are who cast their votes in their respective categories for the Oscars, aka the Academy Awards, each year.

According to the Academy website, “Membership selection is based on professional qualifications, with an ongoing commitment to representation, inclusion and equity remaining a priority. Of the 2024 class, 44% identify as women, 41% belong to underrepresented ethnic/racial communities, and 56% are from 56 countries and territories outside the United States.”

Among this years invitees, there are 71 Oscar nominees, including 19 winners.
