LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Boys and Girls Club of Acadiana got the chance to meet local athletes and social media personalities at "Training 4 Life."

Over 500 kid members and over 100 volunteers were at the Blackham Coliseum for a day of activities, food and special guest appearances, including KLFY's John Weatherall.

Weatherall and Chantell Zenon taught the crowd his viral "Mr. Weatherall" TikTok dance. Superbowl champion Brandon Mitchell of Abbeville also volunteered at the event. Former Patriot Defensive End Mitchell said this event gave kids hope and a chance to connect with kids in other communities.

"The main thing with me is getting those kids around each other while they're young and being together when they're young, so when they get older, they can talk about it and be friends," Mitchell said. "'Hey, I'm friends with that guy. I'm friends with that guy.' It's kind of changed the culture a little bit."

Kayli Bonin of Courtesy Automotive Group said this event gave kids a positive environment to give kids what they need. “Our youth is our future, so that’s who we need to focus on. That’s what we’re doing today.”

UL Running Back Chaz Warb, who was in the Boys and Girls Club when he was younger, said this was a good opportunity to show kids there are good people in the community that they can look up to. "I was talking to one of the little kids earlier, and he asked me what position I play. I was like, 'I was just like you. I wanted to play football,'" Warb said. "I told him that dreams do come true as long as you work hard."

Courtesy Automotive Group and University of Louisiana at Lafayette Athletics partnered to host the second annual "Training 4 Life" for the Boys and Girls Club of Acadiana.
