Motorcyclist suffers life-threatening injuries off-roading in Skamania County

A motorcyclist was air-lifted to the hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries while off-roading near Horseshoe Lake Campground in Skamania County on June 20.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A motorcyclist was air-lifted to the hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries while off-roading near Horseshoe Lake Campground in Skamania County on June 20.

Skamania County EMS & Rescue was dispatched to the trail rescue after receiving a report of a motorcycle crash that occurred north of the Mt. Adams Wilderness. The rescue team found the patient and used a satellite phone to call a Life Flight Network helicopter to the scene.

Rescuers used a stretcher attached to a wheel to move the patient to a helicopter landing zone. The patient was loaded into the helicopter and flown to Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver.

“Snow is still present on higher elevation forest service roadways, if you plan to enjoy the wilderness make sure that you are prepared for colder snowy conditions,” Skamania County EMS & Rescue wrote on social media.
