Kirsten Reilly On Her Return To Hibs

Kirsten Reilly gave her first interview since signing a pre-contract with the Club, bringing her back for a second spell at Hibernian.

“I’m so excited and so glad to be back. I’ve supported the Club all my life and playing for the badge again is going to feel really great.”

Having played for Hibernian between 2018 and 2019 before moving to England to play for Bristol City and Crystal Palace – where she won the Women’s Championship in her final year - Reilly said she had learned a great deal from playing South of the border.

“Playing in England was amazing. At Crystal Palace, we won the league a lot earlier than we had planned but that’s because our last season was so good. The league, girls and clubs were great but I’m excited to be back up here now.”

Asked about what fans should expect of her, Reilly said she was a versatile player, but would not be afraid to shirk a challenge if the team was up against it.

“I love to get on the ball and drive forward to create opportunities for the team. Playing that way will benefit myself, and hopefully the team too.

“That said, I also love to play in a deeper role too. I am an aggressive player who loves a challenge, as a Hibernian fan, I’ll also be playing for the badge and put everything out on the pitch for it!”

With a fanbase that has grown greatly since her first spell at the club, Reilly also said she was excited to re-introduce herself to fans new and old.

“I’m excited to play in front of them and meet all the fans. I know a few from the games I’ve managed to catch across the last couple of years, but it’ll be a good feeling to get to know more of them properly.”

Finally, as a player driven by ambition, she also highlighted some of her targets for the upcoming season.

“The last time I was here, we won a few trophies, and that feeling was really good. It’s our aim to start doing that again!”
