GalaxyCon's inaugural Oklahoma City event generates huge success
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — GalaxyCon's inaugural event in Oklahoma City during Memorial Day weekend was a huge success for its first year in Oklahoma, drawing in more than 10,000 fans and more than $3 million in economic impact.
The much awaited event highlighted different forms of entertainment. including celebrity guests, panels, workshops, and an exhibition hall filled with excited fans.
The Oklahoma City Convention Center featured more than 10,000 in attendance, 250 exhibitors, and 150 celebrity guests and creators. GalaxyCon led fans of all ages and interests to celebrate pop culture, comics, sci-fi, fantasy, and gaming together.

The event brought in success to local restaurants, shops and vendors, hotels, and transportation services. Downtown hotels such as the Omni, Wyndham, and Courtyard by Marriott reached nearly full occupancy during the weekend of the convention.
OKC Mayor David Holt commented on the event's impact, saying "GalaxyCon has proven to be a fantastic addition to Oklahoma City's vibrant cultural landscape. The economic benefits are clear, with local businesses experiencing a significant increase in activity. We are delighted to have hosted such a dynamic and engaging event and look forward to welcoming GalaxyCon back in the future."
The success of GalaxyCon highlights the greater success that Oklahoma City can have as a premier destination spot for hosting large events, like two Olympic events in 2028.

Following GalaxyCon in Oklahoma City, the group continues to expand is efforts to hosting new events in several other cities including Philadelphia, PA; Orlando, FL; Chicago, IL; Cleveland, OH; and Savannah, GA.
GalaxyCon is scheduled to return to Oklahoma City on May 23 to May 25, 2025.
