MGA Entertainment Recalls 21 Million Make It Mini Sets Over Health Concerns

0

One of the biggest toy trends in recent years is miniature everything. I could give you a long-winded explanation why, but that would kind of go against the whole vibe of keeping things teeny tiny. MGA Entertainment just had to recall 21 million of their Miniverse Make It Mini Sets in the United States plus about 1 million in Canada due to included liquid resins, according to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

“When liquid, [resin] can cause skin, eye, and respiratory irritation or sensitization when inhaled, touched, or ingested by children or adults,” the CPSC announcement said. “The resins contain acrylates … in amounts prohibited in children’s products by the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. After the resins cure, they no longer present this hazard.”

This recall impacts more than three dozen sets from the “Miniverse” — including Make It Mini appliances, food, and lifestyle items — all of which can be seen HERE. This does not impact all MGA Entertainment and Miniverse toys.

Before the recall, MGA Entertainment received 26 reports of skin burns and irritation, respiratory irritation, and one report that a consumer’s asthma was triggered. The CPSC and MGA Entertainment are now recommending that consumers stop using any recalled units with unused resins and contact MGA at mvcustomer_care@mgae.com or visit the recall section of their site for more information on how to receive either a full refund or replacement product.
