BRITS heading to Spain this summer could be fined hundreds of pounds this summer under new rules.

The new measure will fine tourists as much as €750 (£632) if they are caught peeing in the sea, according to local media.

The measure makes up part of the new ordinance for the use of the area’s beaches.

Initially approved by Marbella council last week, the proposals now face a public consolation.

If this is approved, the new laws will then be enforced.

It’s not the only beach in Spain which h as banned people from peeing in the ocean.

In 2022, Vigo introduced the new rules which ban urinating “in the sea or on the beach”,

Anyone caught – despite not being clear how it is enforced – could also be fined €750.

Peeing in the sea is also banned in Portugal, as well as Maya Bay in Thailand due to the damage to the sea life.

Another crackdown on Spanish beaches is the use of beach sunloungers.

Anyone caught trying to save a space with an umbrella or lounger could be fined up to £650.

You could be fined £1,700 is caught smoking on some Spanish beaches, or £560 if caught naked on a non-nudist beach.

Failing to cover up swimwear when leaving the beach and midnight swimming could also get you in trouble.

And the government of Andalusia has implement a strict water ban.

This means not only with fountains be emptied and lower water pressure introduced, but beach showers across Cadiz will be removed.

Last year, Malaga also cut off the water to its showers to comply with drought recommendations.
