Alasdair Gold confirms Spurs have ‘serious interest’ in prolific striker

Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur hold a genuine interest in Jonathan David, revealing that the North London club have had their eye on the Lille star for a long time.

Over the last week, a number of outlets have named the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as a potential destination for David.

The Canadian striker is expected to depart Lille this summer as he enters the final year of his contract (Dharmesh Sheth).

However, over the last few days, it has emerged that Spurs are far from the only club after the 24-year-old, with Manchester United, Chelsea and West Ham also thought to be circling David (BBC Sport).

Gold has now also confirmed that David’s name is indeed quite high on Ange Postecoglou’s striker shortlist (Football London).

The journalist states that the Lilywhites have been monitoring the Canadian international’s progress for some time and they hold a ‘serious interest’ in the former Gent man.

He also adds that since the striker just has a year left on his deal at Stade Pierre Mauroy, he is expected to be available for around £25m this summer.

Among the various strikers who have been mooted as targets for Spurs over the last few months, David undoubtedly represents the best value for money, given the suggested price tag.

The Canadian is the sort of striker Ange prefers to lead his line and given his goalscoring pedigree in Ligue 1, I would be very surprised if Tottenham do not get involved in the race.
